The Mayhaw Festival presented by First Financial Bank, El Dorado Chemical and the City of El Dorado is an annual street festival with craft and food vendors, vintage market, antique car show, Newton House Museum tours, 5K & 10K runs, kids activities, Mayhaw jelly and bluegrass music.

It is a great day of family fun held on the grounds of the Newton House Museum. The Mayhaw Festival is held on the first Saturday of May each year since 1992 and is put on by the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society in El Dorado, Arkansas. This event is free and open to the public.

The Board of Directors of the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society cordially invites you to come and hear about your yesterday with special speaker Samantha Bynum, Curator of the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources (AMNR).  

NATURAL RESOURCES IN THE NATURAL STATE

 Have you ever wondered what is so special about Arkansas?  Arkansas has a rich natural resource base.  This lecture will discuss natural resources of Arkansas especially South Arkansas and why those special ingredients are what made Arkansas the land of opportunity - back in 1836.

Samantha Bynum has been the curator for AMNR for the last five years.  Before joining the staff at AMNR, she worked as the collection's manager at the Clayton House Museum in Fort Smith and as the graduate assistant for the Arkansas Tech Museum in Russellville.  She holds a MA in United States History from Arkansas Tech (2014) and BA in History/Historical Interpretation from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (2019).  She is a graduate of the 2018 Jekyll Island Management Institute.  Currently, she serves as a Southern District Representitive for the Arkansas Museums Association.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
